Biochar in vineyard, orchard and farm applications – soil health, yields, resilience and climate solutions – Erica Massey, Regenerative Geo Services
This session will encourage discussion on biochar and regenerative agricultural practices, and practical solutions for soil health, climate, and increased yields and resilience. It will include real-time examples of how agricultural practices in other countries are successfully processing prunings and wood feedstock from vineyards, orchards and farms to produce biochar. The discussion will present the benefits of biochar practices for reduced irrigation, microbial soil health and carbon sequestration. The presenter, Erica Massey, MSc, P.Geo., is a local geoscientist focusing on soil health and biochar in local Okanagan vineyards, orchards and farms to help provide awareness, practical solutions and R&D to farmers and the local community.
