Dr. Jose Urbez-Torres, Plant Pathologist, AAFC – Vine renewal, a cultural practice for management of grapevine trunk diseases

Dr. Urbez-Torres will present data outlining recommendations on best methods to fight and eliminate grapevine truck disease during a replant and renewal period for vineyards. Strategies include selecting the best shoots and how to cut and remove damaged trunks in a way that limits the possibility of spreading disease across the vineyard. The presentation will be supported by a survey that is being launched in the province to help researchers and industry associations understand the extent of disease and virus in BC that will inform the upcoming Enhanced Replant Program (ERP) and the work being conducted by the Wine Industry Task Force.
