SUMMARY:Land Sharing Workshop - Enderby
DESCRIPTION:GOT LAND? WANT LAND? If you’re looking to access farmland\, or are curious about sharing your land with a farmer\, join us in Enderby on October 19th to start your land sharing journey with the B.C. Land Matching Program! \n  \nWhy share land? The number of farmers in B.C. has been declining for several decades\, and thousands of local farms have disappeared. Farm operators are ageing out of farming and retiring\, but with the cost of farmland at an all-time high\, many new farmers can’t afford to buy land and continue their legacy. That’s why the B.C. Land Matching Program exists\, and our annual educational land sharing workshops offer an opportunity for farmers and landholders to connect with each other and learn how to share land. \n  \nJoin Pascale\, the B.C. Land Matching Program Manager\, and Haley\, the Okanagan-Thompson Land Matcher\, to learn how you can access land for a farm business or make your land available to a farmer. They will explain how sharing land can be mutually beneficial for farmers and landholders\, as well as highlight best practices\, relevant regulations and considerations\, and tips for building and maintaining a successful land sharing relationship. Emma Holmes\, Regional Agrologist\, will also be in attendance to discuss programs\, resources and upcoming events for farmers and farm-curious folks in the region.  \n  \nYou’ll leave the workshop with the knowledge\, resources and connections needed to start your own land sharing journey! \n  \nDIRECTIONS/PARKING: The Drill Hall is located at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and George Street (Highway 97a) in the south end of Enderby. Free parking is available in the parking lot\, or on the adjacent streets. Carpooling is encouraged – if you are looking for or can offer a ride to or from the event\, you can organize carpooling through the Facebook event. Please do not bring pets to the event. Kids are welcome! More information below. \nREGISTER: Please RSVP on Eventbrite:
